In my day job, I edit the companies section of the Investors Chronicle, a private investor title published by the Financial Times. I have been a financial journalist since 2010. You can find me on Twitter @iankmsmith. To be clear, this personal blog reflects my own views and pre-occupations, and bears no relation to the IC or the FT.
Prior to becoming a journalist I studied at Oxford University for five years, earning a Theology BA and a Modern Middle Eastern Studies Mphil. I specialised in modern Iranian history and contemporary Islamic thought across the Islamic world. In 2010, I wrote a blog series for the New Statesman on 10 influential Muslims of the modern age.
